Retreats at the Mumonkan Centre take place at a number of venues.
From the centre of Granada city to the beautiful mountains of Las Alpujarras we host our events and retreats in specially chosen venues. No matter which venue we supply detailed instructions how to find us.
Many of our seminars and workshops are hosted at the beautiful
Alquerìa Morayma in Las Alpujarras, Spain. In addition, we have the use of a wonderful mountain finca in the Sierra Nevada (Juviles) with beautiful scenery and wild life. Accommodation is in locally made Mongolian Yurts. In addition we run workshops in Morocco.
Alqueria Morayma
The Morayma is situated on the flanks of the Contraviesa hills close to the riverbank of the Guadalfeo river close by to the Sierra Nevada National Park.
All the buildings have been cleverly reconstructed in the old style, using local materials and expertise, and have been built on many different levels to create the asymmetrical feel of a local village. The flat roofs are covered with launa (clay) and have authentic slate eaves, and irregular chimney stacks. Inside, the ceilings are traditional slate supported by uncovered chestnut beams; casement windows look out onto terraces, patios, covered walkways, in one case a bread oven, fountains and gardens. Furnishing are typically Apujarreño. There is a stocked and working bodega (wine cellar), an ermita (old chapel) in which one can stay, and a very well stocked library, with a wealth of local material.
All accommodation is centrally heated, has bathroom en suite, telephone and television, and mountain views. In the hot months there is a swimming pool. The restaurant boasts an open fire and a fine menu.
